Meditation can help you love yourself and others

It helps quiet your inner critic, increases compassion and positive emotions, and enhances your capacity for empathy.

  1. Set aside time. Dedicate a specific time of day to meditate
  2. Find a relaxed position. Close your eyes, relax your muscles and breathe easily
  3. Focus feeling inner love and kindness. Thank yourself for all you do in this world
  4. Repeat these phrases once for yourself, then for someone you love, and finally for someone you struggle with:
    • May I/you be happy
    • May I/you be healthy
    • May I/you be safe
    • May I/you live with ease
  5. Focus on yourself, then on those you know. Feel and absorb the gratitude and love for all people in your life
  6. Open your eyes and carry this feeling with you all day. Keep this warm feeling with you as you go about your day
